Error 1904 - Flash9.ocx failed to register?

Error 1904 ... Flash9.ocx failed to register

Issue:

When you installed your Autodesk software application, the following error message was displayed.

Error 1904.Module C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9.ocx failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473

When you clicked OK, the Autodesk software application install completed successfully, but 2 versions of the Adobe Flash Player Plug-in were installed.

Solution:

This error occurs because an older version of the Adobe Flash installer is unable to detect that a newer version has already been installed. As a result, both versions of the Adobe Flash Player Plug-in are installed. To resolve this issue, use one of the methods listed below:

If you have already installed your Autodesk software application:

  • You can ignore this error. Your Autodesk software application installation will not be affected and the one component that requires Flash will work without any problems.
  • You can clean up the dual installations of the Adobe Flash Player Plug-in by uninstalling them, and then reinstalling the latest Adobe Flash Player Plug-in. For details on removing this plug-in, either search Adobe's website for the Uninstall_flash_player.exe utility or contact Adobe for details.

If you have not installed your Autodesk software yet, you can prevent this issue from occurring by following the applicable procedure listed below before you install your software.

For standalone installations from the product media:
Uninstall the Adobe Flash Player Plug-in, and then install the Autodesk software application. For details on removing this plug-in, either search Adobe's website for the Uninstall_flash_player.exe utility or contact Adobe for details.

For network and multi-seat standalone deployments:
1. In the AdminImage folder for your deployment, locate the deployment.ini file.
2. Open the deployment.ini file in a text editor, such as Notepad. Note: This .ini file will have the same name as the deployment installation shortcut. Do not modify the setup.ini file.
3. In the deployment.ini file, locate the following line of text:

[ACAD]
PREREQUISITE=OS;MSI;DOTNET20;DOTNETLANG;VBA;VBALANG;
DIRECTX;MSXML;DWFV;FLASH;WMF;MDAC;IE

4. Remove the reference to FLASH. See edited text below.

[ACAD] PREREQUISITE=OS;MSI;DOTNET20;DOTNETLANG;VBA;VBALANG;
DIRECTX;MSXML;DWFV;WMF;MDAC;IE

5. Save this file and close the text editor.
6. Attempt the Autodesk product installation again.
