CAD has been an important part of the AEC industry for decades. Roads and highways professionals realized that they could take advantage of rapidly advancing computing technology to transform the labor-intensive and difficult process of manual drafting into an electronic process which was more efficient for documentation.
With current computing and software advances, many AEC organizations are taking the next step - from producing drawings to creating BIM models.

BIM is an integrated process that allows highway engineering teams to explore a project digitally before it is built. It starts from the essential idea of the physical design and considers the question about how the physical elements, like alignments, profiles, finished grade surfaces, can represent both geometry and information for a wide range of applications from the beginning and throughout the lifecycle of a project.

Autodesk tools can be used to create the conceptual building information model (BIM) and communicate the design intent, while inherently providing the data for conceptual and detail design, construction estimating, scheduling and execution.

The major benefits of BIM to you are:

  • Reduction of uncertainty
    • Ability to manage and analyze voluminous and complex GIS data
    • Accurate data is ensured for QTO
    • Early modeling can highlight issues
    • Data shared among all disciplines
  • Cost avoidance
    • Coordinated changes
    • Errors found early when it is cheaper to fix
    • Digital Interference detection
    • Simulation of construction sequencing
  • Clarity of presentations
    • 3D models result in lifelike presentations
    • Visualizes appropriate for general population

In this session we show how you can:

  • Increase the reliability of your plans by using a single BIM model
  • Use 3D GIS data at the conceptual design stage
  • Improve accuracy of Quantity Take-Offs for your bids
  • Smooth the transition from conceptual to detail design
  • Show 4D (3D plus time) presentations
  • Prepare visually accurate presentations of finished designs
  • Reduce conflicts by checking for interference digitally
  • Analyze construction scheduling graphically

Products shown include:

  • Autodeskł Map 3D
  • AutoCADł Civil 3Dł
  • Autodeskł Navisworksł Manage
